Meet the mommy founder who craved a better experience...

It all started when I received a crumpled Picture Day order packet from our kiddos' picture day. I was so turned off from the OUTDATED process and overall logistics. My husband does the majority of the pickup shifts at our kids' preschool, and he tries his best to responsibly bring home all of our kids’ stuff: the soiled change of clothes (learning is messy!), dirty bottles, cute artwork from their day's activities, written daily report, AND the school portrait packet. Add all of that and try carrying a wriggling, overly tired and hangry toddler and you're bound to come home with a few damaged goods.

I created the concept of Modern School Portraits because I was determined to improve the school portrait process: make it simple, easy, and most of all, beautifully classic. With the busy city parent lifestyle in mind, I wanted to create a service that caters to quality and convenience. And most of all, beautiful fine art boutique child portraiture that can seamlessly be integrated into any home gallery display. I'd much rather covet a portrait that authentically illustrates my child’s unique personality! 

Voila Modern School Portraits was born!

Bringing 7 years of teaching experience to this modern spin on school pictures, Janet has traded in lesson plans and grading papers for cameras and authentic smiles! Joining the Modern School Portraits team was a huge factor in helping her make the decision to go into photography full-time. Janet also specializes in weddings and lifestyle family portrait sessions. She has checked 23 countries off of her bucket list, and she’s probably planning her next adventure in her downtime. JENNY.

She LOVES photographing children and has a reputation for creating the best (fake) fart noises behind the camera! She enjoys scuba diving and exploring new destinations with her own family of four in her downtime.
